Evolving work spaces.

LIV Design Student Challenge

With an eventual return to “normal” working life looming on the horizon, hybrid workspaces have emerged as a way to harmonize virtual and in-person work while still allowing for meaningful collaboration. Now more than ever, our workplaces must find ways to balance interpersonal connection with new attitudes and approaches to work – emphasizing safety while strengthening bonds within our teams. Precisely how these spaces will be actualized is an electrifying challenge that currently preoccupies the global interior design community.

LIV Design Studio is challenging the next generation of interior designers to consider how these spaces might be brought to life, what purposes they might serve, and how they can contribute to a more balanced, productive future. Students are asked to envision a 150 sq ft. collaborative workspace for the ever-evolving needs of offices in the interior design industry and beyond. This collaborative workspace must be functional for in-person meetings, virtual meetings & a hybrid of both. This space must also serve a separate purpose outside of a designated meeting area.

Prizes & Methodology

Four (4) winners will be selected from among the submissions received by a panel of industry judges. Each of these four finalists’ projects will be adapted to AR by LIV Design Studio’s CG team and be presented through a shared booth at IDS Vancouver 2022. During the course of this event, attendees from the design community will be able to vote for finalist placements through an online portal after viewing the AR submissions.

• Second (2nd) place: $4,000

• Third (3rd) place: $2,000
