Meet the Jurors

Camille Mitchell, OAA FRAIC

Camille Mitchell is an Architect at SvN Architects + Planners in Toronto and a passionate advocate for equity in architecture. As a founder of Building Equality in Architecture Toronto and the Black Architects and Interior Designers Association, she promotes mentorship, networking, and leadership opportunities for women and underrepresented groups in the profession. She is also a member of the Urban Land Institute's Women in Leadership Initiative Championship Team, working to advance women in real estate and construction.

In addition to her professional contributions, Camille is a sessional lecturer at the Creative School at Toronto Metropolitan University and serves on the Advisory Board for the University of Waterloo School of Architecture’s Racial Equity and Environmental Justice program. In these roles, she helps shape inclusive curricula and drive meaningful change. Camille’s impactful efforts underscore her dedication to fostering opportunity and equity within the built environment and beyond.

Sophie Donelson

Sophie Donelson’s work as a journalist, host, speaker and strategist celebrates the connection between people and their homes. Sought after for her informed, original, and exuberant perspective on design and living, Sophie helps design professionals, companies and individuals create meaning and memory through design.

Sophie Donelson was previously editor in chief of House Beautiful magazine; she has written for the Wall Street Journal, Veranda, Better Homes & Gardens, and New York; and has authored several books including Uncommon Kitchens: A Revolutionary Approach to the Most Popular Room in the House (2023).

Sophie’s TV credits include shows on Magnolia Network as a host, producer and she regularly works as an MC, moderator, and speaker for clients such as Kohler, VRBO and at international design and real estate industry events.

Tommy Smythe

Tommy’s contagious enthusiasm and fun-loving approach to decorating have made him a household name in the world of design. A career spanning more than 25 years has left no stone unturned in getting the message of practical and beautiful design to his many followers through television, print media, social media and speaking engagements. Tommy is known for his masterful mix of fine art, vintage, antique and modern furnishings, all pulled together with a colour sense that’s second to none.

In January of 2020, along with long-time collaborators Lindsay Mens and Kate Stuart, Tommy established The TOM Design Collective, a full-service design group focusing on residential projects in Canada, the U.S. and abroad.
