JANUARY 23-26, 2025

Metro Toronto Convention Centre North Building

Night & Day

The Evolution of Hotel Design

Hospitality has been a guiding light in interior design, providing cues for residential and office projects. Hotels have morphed from a place to stay to a place to meet, drink, eat, work, and be seen. They really are night and day from the expectations of a hotel in the 20th century.

Hotels are some of the hardest-working buildings and interiors, having to provide security, hygiene, comfort, and style 24/7—both night and day. Popular culture is obsessed with the getaway, with aspirational stays filling feeds and becoming the setting for TV and film.

What is the next step for hospitality? How will the sector morph in the next few years? What types of interiors will learn from hospitality in the future? What lessons have been lost from hospitality in the past?

Night & Day spotlights leading designers and manufacturers in the sector. Multiple spaces, each created by a leading interior designer or architect, portray the latest trends, technology, and avant-garde ideas that will shape the discipline for the next few years.

IDS is producing this feature to create a platform for leading voices in hospitality design and an experiential, inspirational feature that will be the main conversation piece of the show.

Night & Day follows the success of the critically acclaimed Future Neighbourhood feature, which was the centrepiece of IDS January 2024. Read about the feature here.
