Alykhan Neky
Landscape and Architectural Designer at SvN Architects + Planners


Alykhan specializes in the social and cultural dimensions of architecture and landscape design. His landscape design experience straddles themes of environmental stewardship and cultural expression. Alykhan worked on a contemporary Islamic garden design for the new Houston Ismaili Center and a river revitalization master plan with the Indigenous Quapaw American community in Oklahoma. He received his architecture training from Toronto Metropolitan University, where he was awarded the Moriyama Student Award from the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) and recognized by Azure magazine's AZ Awards for his thesis project--a Maasai cultural centre in Kenya. He was awarded a Penny White Scholarship for research on Islamic burial landscapes in East Africa while a student at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design, where he received a Master of Landscape Architecture. Alykhan remains active in architectural research and dissemination, having published in Canadian Architect magazine and other venues, contributing to design exhibitions, and giving public lectures in design.
